Google and No follow tag
Why should I keep quiet? Everyone in the blogosphere is talking about google and its latest announcement about no follow tags, links (whatever!). But something, we people didn’t knew is :-
["Google had taken that step an year ago !! None of us noticed ! We might not have noticed ever ! But we came to know about this when MattCutts told about this in his blog post about page rank sculpting!! --- "]
And, I don’t think there is any use in discussing and complaining about it. Yup, many are complaining about this - that - “why didn’t Google announced it earlier? ” - well, we didn’t even notice anything because of that change! Then why should we complain now??? Anyways, we at digitalpointing don’t have any complains. We were not using no-follow tags anywhere - and we were allowing pr juice to flow all over the site and to other sites equally!!!
Now, it is time, that we should learn something. Something that would benefit we webmasters. Matt did a good job by telling something about whats happening behind the scenes at Google. Before we discuss about what to do, let’s once again ( I know you guys have read numerous blog post regarding the new announcement by google, anyways, just one more from us also) , read what’s the real Google Announcement about page rank sculpting and about use of No-follow tags for linking to pages.
If a page had 20 page rank points. And suppose it had 5 do follow links and 5 no follow links, then do you know how much PR juice the links with do follow tag get? Well, before that you must know something.
You should know how google calculates the PR juice. Well, one more thing that you should understand is :- links with no follow tags won’t get PR juice BUT they will affect the PR juice of do follow links - even though no follow links don’t get PR juice they will evoporate the PR juice that would have gone throught the do follow links.
Earlier, full PR juice used to go through do follow links - BUT now ( from the last year onwards ( we came to know about this only now) , PR juice won’t flow fully through the do follow links - if there are no follow links, then it will decrease the amount of PR juice that flows through do follow links - and that doesn’t mean some PR juice will flow through no-follow links - NO PR juice will flow throuhg no-follow links - BUT they will decrease or evaporate some PR juice that would have otherwise gone through do follow links!!!
So, what should webmasters do from now on:-
1- Nothing special! Just give importance on quality content. And as far as I know, Google gives importance to quality content than anything!
2- Link wherever you want- but keep in mind that you link to things that have something to do with your niche. That’s because google loves sites that link to quality sites related with their niche. So, don’t remove the comment section of your blog - let people who are related with your niche link to their website!
That’s it for now!
