I wrote this after seeing a lot of threads/posts about how people make money off of DP and also receiving a few PMs on how I personally make money from DP.
So lets get straight to it.
Ive been a member of DigitalPoint(DP) since April 2006, active since September 2006. Since I became active, Ive made literally thousands of dollars.
In this little eGuide, Ill let you know my methods of making all of this money just through this one, lucrative website.
One of the main ways people make money on DP is by selling their signature. The going rate is $1 per 100 posts. The more posts you acquire, the more money you’re able to make. If you plan on becoming a regular, active member then try to stay away from selling annual links. You can sell your signature in the Link Sales section.
Other good ways are to sell your avatar, Location and Recent Blog Post spots. The going rate for avatars are usually half the cost of your signature. Ex.- If you have 1,000 posts your signature would go for $10 and your avatar for $5. There really isnt a standard rate for Location and Recent Blog Post spots. I usually sell them for a few bucks each but mainly I sell everything as a package for a quick sale. Lets say I have 3k posts. Id sell my signature, Location, Recent Blog Post and avatar for about $40. You can sell these in the Advertising section or in the main section of the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.
DP is an ad revenue sharing website which means you get a cut of their AdSense revenue simply by posting. One of the newest ways of making some cash through DP is to sell your AdSense pub spot. You can find this in your UCP Options. Havent sold mine yet and Im not planning on it but I see them sell for anywhere from $1 to $5. Of course the higher your post count is the more you can sell it for. You can sell this in the Advertising section or in the main section of the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.
If you have an established website sell some links. You can sell your links in the Link Sales section. I have about 30 established websites so I have a lot of link spots to sell. The higher the traffic and PR, the higher you can sell links for. I have a PR2 website with great traffic but I only sell my links for $5 each. The key is to make some money but make sure not to over sell.
If you have an established website but don’t have time to maintain it you may want to go to the Sites section to find some potential buyers. Depending on the PR, traffic, revenue, backlinks, etc. you could make a nice bundle of cash. Ive made everywhere from $5 per site to $500 per site. Just purchase a domain and sign up for some free hosting to get started. Also, BlogSpot is a good, free alternative. Create a blog on BlogSpot, add some content and sell it for a few bucks. I sold a few at $5 each and they only had abut 10 posts on it.
Do you buy domains just for the sake of buying domains like I do? I always buy domains, sometimes with the intention to develop it but never do. Right now I have about 20 domains. I sold the rest and you can too by going to the Domains section of DP. There are always people wanting to buy domains. Look out for the “[WTB]” threads. If none of them are looking for what youre offering, create your own thread. Make sure to mention where the domain is registered, when it expires, payment methods you are accepting and how much for it(unless youre looking for offers).
Something that I used to do often when I had a lot of time on my hands was boost forums. If you go to the Content Creation forum youll see that there are a lot of people looking to boost their forums, which mean they want people to make posts on their forum to make it look active. The going rate for this is $0.10 a reply and about $0.12 a thread. Dont be afraid to raise your price though. Take a look around the Content Creation forum and look for the prices people are offering and go about a cent under them.
Do you have writing skills? You can also go to the Content Creation section to find people who are looking for other people to write some articles for them. Charge about a penny per word. (Can you imagine how much money I could make with this little ol article?)
A lot of webmasters don’t have a lot of time on their hands or they’re just lazy. These webmasters often look for people to do their “dirty work”, the boring stuff if you will. Check in the Services section for people looking for other people to submit their site(s) to directories or social networking websites. There are also people looking for web developers, programmers, moderators, administrators, etc. Sometimes these positions arent paid but when they are, the money is pretty decent. I make about $200 every 2 weeks moderating/administrating forums. I got the(two) jobs through the Services section of DP.
Speaking of designing. If you have PhotoShop or something similar, spare time and some talent, the Contests section is for you. The majority of the contests in there are for logos. Prizes range from $5-$20+ per logo. Theres also a few people giving $100+ for a logo. Too bad I cant design worth a crap but if you can, its easy money.
Can you create websites? Webmasters also look around for people willing to create websites for them. A lot of them ask for people to make them offers so make them a decent one(for you) but dont low ball or make a ridiculously high offer. There are some users who put their offers into the deal thread so this gives you a chance to review the offers and make one you know the OP will not reject, something lower than the rest.
One of the most important things to have while doing business on DP is a PayPal account. Make sure you sign up for one because the majority of the users on there have one and thats their main payment method.
Also, grammar is a must. There are few webmasters who will actually take someone seriously when they still use “ur” for “your”.
Well have fun making money but remember that results will not be the same for everyone and patience is the key to success.
