DP Removes Revenue Sharing

Posted on August 26th, 2009 in DigitaPointing by will

Shawn recently opened the Revenue Sharing Maybe Going Away… thread to discuss turning off revenue sharing.

The concept was reasonably well received and has now been implemented.  Revenue sharing is gone from DP.

This change allows Shawn to experiment with new ad models to improve DP revenue.  More importantly, it reduces one of the incentives for people to spam the forum with large volumes of low-quality posts.

I think it’s a good move for DP, but only time will tell if I’m right.

I have yet to find a revenue sharing anywhere which makes money. Hubpages etc. advertise it and it brings in the crowd with not enough money to get their own sites going and too much time on their hands, but does little.

Easy come, easy go. It was nice that DP gave out a slice of cheese. But I guess that with the long absense the pie was getting smaller.
